Greetings from Glasgow

Hello all,
Now Katia and I are in Glasgow, Scotland. We're here to see the Paul Simon concert tomorrow :-D WHOOO!!!!
So yesterday we all went to Cambridge to go to the Sedgwick museum. It's a museum that is basically all fossils and rocks. It shows the evolution of different organisms through the fossils...it was pretty cool. My favorite part was the display with all the different gemstones. I got to see what an emerald looks like in its natural form, so that was pretty interesting. There was also this gigantic hippo skeleton...it was crazy looking. Then Mike lead a story time since we had some spare moments and that was quite intriguing. You'll see from the picture :-P Next we went to the college where Darwin studied and toured around there. It's a pretty small school. There are only about 500 students who go there and it sounds incredibly demanding. After that we had some free time to wander around Cambridge, so me, Katia, Cheshire, Anna and Mathea all went shopping around for a while. There was also a chocolate store that we had passed earlier that we just HAD to go into :-P After that pit stop we went to a mall that was nearby. We shopped around some more and then Cheshire, Anna and Mathea spotted this booth in an open area of the mall that had all these fish tanks, so we went to check it out. We found out that the fish were the kind that latch onto your skin and eat all of the dead skin and bacteria....super weird, but very interesting. It was too weird for us NOT to try. The five of us all signed up and Mark walked by as we were doing so...he had to think we were all nuts. Which is by all means true :-) So we all stuck our feet in our designated tanks and it was an absolute riot. We were all screaming because it was the strangest feeling EVER. It tickled quite a bit...and I'm not very ticklish. It was great fun though. We were all screaming so much and causing such a scene that we started to attract an audience in the mall! It was pretty awesome. Mathea got some pretty great pictures of all of us. (THAT I MUST GET *HINT*) So after that adventure, we had to head back to our group meeting spot so we could all load up on the bus and be on our way. Our next stop was a United States Navy and Air Force memorial for those who fought and died during WWII. It was really quite a moving experience. There was a huge flag pole with an American flag on it and the officer that was showing us around had some people from the group help take the flag down and fold it in the triangle. At a certain time every day Taps is played in honor of those who served in WWII. Luckily we were there to experience that and it was a very special tribute. After that we got back on the bus and went back to Harlaxton. We were all totally drained, so I literally stayed in bed the rest of the night and colored and wrote in my journal :-P
So today we had early classes because it is the start of our second long weekend. This is the longest weekend and Katia and I made plans to visit Scotland :) Today was mostly spent on the different trains. It was about a 5 hour journey from Grantham....boredom. However, we made it safely and now we are here at the hostel that seems to be fairly un-sketchy. We also found an Italian place down the road to eat dinner that was really really good. I've missed my Italian food..... Tomorrow the plan is to shop literally all day and then we have an appointment with Mr. Paul Simon :-) That is all for now. I'll leave you with the latest pictures. Cheers!

  1. Okay, the fish? Ew. I'm not sure I could handle that. But the pictures are pretty awesome.

Also, you've inspired us to watch Greyfriars Bobby. So thanks. :)

  2. I don't think I would have been brave enough to try the fish thing...
